Span 20 is a light yellow viscous liquid, soluble in oil and organic solvents, and can be dispersed into an emulsion solution in water. Span 20 emulsifier is a non-ionic surfactant with an HLB value of 8.6.
Applications
1.Span 20 is the most hydrophilic of the series and is soluble in many fat compositions and solvents. Span 20 is widely used in personal care products such as skin care and color cosmetics. 2.In pharmaceutical and cosmetic production, Span 20 is used as a W/O emulsifier, stabilizer, plasticizer, lubricant and desiccant. 3.Span 20 is used in the textile industry as a softener, antistatic agent and finishing agent. Span 60is brownish-yellow waxy or beige flake. It is insoluble in water and soluble in hot ethanol, benzene and hot oil. Span 60 is a good W/O emulsifier with strong emulsifying, dispersing and lubricating properties. What’s more, it is also a good stabilizer and defoamer.
Applications
1. In skin creams and emulsions,Span-60 is used to emulsify fatty alcohols, esters, minerals and silicone oils. 2. In food industry, Span-60 acts as emulsifier for the production of beverage, lactose, ice cream, bread, pastry, wheat milk flavoring, margarine, chocolate and so on. 3. In textile industry, Span-60 is used as antistatic agent and softener component of acrylic fiber. 4. As anti-fogging agent for PVC, EVA, PE and other films, the dosage is 1.5-1.8% in PVC.
Sorbitan Monooleate Span 80
Span 80 is an amber to brown oily liquid.Span 80 is insoluble in water, soluble in hot oil and organic solvents. It is a 0/W emulsifier and can be mixed with emulsifiers Span-60 and Tween-60.
Applications
1.Span 80 is used as a W/O emulsifier to emulsify in explosives, nylon, viscose cord oils. And span emulsifier has good smoothing effect on fibers.
2. Span 80 can be considered as emulsifier in the production of food and cosmetics, dispersant in the paint and coating industry, insecticide, wetting agent and emulsifier in the production of pesticides, auxiliary solvent in petroleum products, antirust agent and so on.
3. S-80 can be looked upon as lubricants and softeners for textiles and leather.
