DMG fine powder (from 100-200mesh) is a white powder, insoluble in water, soluble in chloroform, ethyl acetate, ethanol, benzene and a variety of chlorinated hydrocarbons and other organic solvents.
A single glyceryl ester molecule has two hydrophilic hydroxyl groups (OH) and an oilophilic hydrocarbon group (R). Thus, it has excellent emulsifying properties. It is a nonionic surfactant. The HLB value is between 3 and 5, with defoaming, oilophilic, w/o type emulsifier.
