2021 Egypt ACID System Regulation
The 2021 Egypt ACID System Regulation introduces mandatory pre-shipment cargo registration for exports to Egypt. It outlines key responsibilities for importers and exporters, ensuring cargo data transparency, smoother customs clearance, and compliance with updated documentation and digital submission requirements.
Effective from October 1, 2021, Egypt’s ACID system requires all sea freight shipments to be registered before departure. Importers must submit cargo details through a local system to obtain an ACID number, which is then shared with exporters. Exporters are required to register on the CargoX platform and upload shipping documents in advance. The ACID number must be clearly shown on key documents such as the bill of lading and manifest. Failure to comply may result in shipment rejection or delays. This regulation enhances cargo visibility, streamlines customs procedures, and improves risk management for goods entering Egypt.
